College & Career Corner | Week of 11/3

Counseling Center Highlights 

10/28: Alfred University representative visited campus, ask your student what they learned! 
10/30: We had students take the learners permit in group sessions as they would at the DMV. 
10/30: SU Part-time HEOP program director came to meet with a group of students. 
 11/10: We are excited to be hosting an Ultrasound clinic for students that are interested please sign up 
11/14: We will be hosting “How do I get started”, the start up of building a business, discussing the start up process, do’s and dont’s and how branding works. 

Important

• 12th-graders should be actively working on their college essays. They can schedule a session with their counselor or visit us in room 100 for support. 
• OnPoint for College is available to 11th and 12th graders every Wednesday from 9 am to 1 pm in room 100. 
• Please check college early acceptance/decision deadlines, as early applications can simplify the college planning process. 
• We have shared a scholarship database for seniors to review and identify potential opportunities. Access is provided via the Remind app. 
• 12th graders should be completing their senior checklist, please check with your student to see where they are on the checklist. 

Upcoming Events 

11/3 & 11/4: Parent teachers conference, please come and check on your students glows and grows. 
11/4: Election Day, no school for students. 
11/5: OnPoint for college will be here 9am-1pm in room (11th & 12th Grade) 

Reminder 

We share important updates about field trips, job opportunities (including some for students as young as 14), workshops, and more through on REMIND, please ensure you and your student(s) have joined. 

October 20th - November 3rd is SUNY’S Free Application Week; apply up to five SUNY schools with no application fee! 
12th graders should be actively working on their common app & Schoolinks, if they need assistance they can stop by room 100 or speak with their counselor.
