The Syracuse City School District’s Online Registration Center is now open to accept applications for Pre-K and Kindergarten registration, as well as for High School Choice and Expeditionary Learning Middle School (ELMS).

If you’re a city resident and your child was born between December 2, 2010 and December 1, 2011, he or she may be eligible for Pre-K.  If your child was born between December 2, 2009 and December 1, 2010, he or she is eligible to register for Kindergarten.  If you are currently enrolled in a SCSD pre-K class, you do not need to register for kindergarten.

The district’s High School Choice online application period is open April 1 through April 30.  Through the Syracuse City School District High School Choice Program, parents or guardians of students transitioning from 8th to 9th grade are provided the opportunity to request a Home School/Join Sibling Transfer, request a Home School Only Transfer, request a Join Sibling Only Transfer or submit an application to a high school within the district that offers a career technical or specialized program of interest to the student, such as:
  • Henninger Health Careers Program
  • Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central
  • International Baccalaureate Program at Corcoran
  • Nottingham Natural Resources-STEM Program
  • Public Service Leadership Academy
  • Syracuse P-TECH

Current 8th grade students at Westside Academy, Frazer or Grant are required to participate in the High School Choice process. Students are also required to apply if they are interested in a career, technical education or specialized program offered in their feeder school. Applications are also open for optional transfer requests.

Students in grades 6-8 now have the opportunity to apply to Syracuse Expeditionary Learning Middle School (ELMS).  At ELMS, students benefit from a personalized and academically rigorous atmosphere.  Curriculum is organized into interdisciplinary “expeditions” and teachers often use the greater Syracuse community as their classroom. ELMS teachers work daily with small groups of students, called Crews, to help students develop strong relationships with each other and deeper connections with their school experience.
