New York State Assessments in April: Our students have been working hard all year with their learning.  They will be ready to do their best on the New York State Assessments in April.  The New York State Assessments in ELA for grades 3-5 will be administered April 5 th through the 7 th .  The Math Assessments for grade 3-5 are April 13 th through the 15 th .   The New York State Assessments help to prepare our students for college and careers.  The assessments provide objective information about ... more >>
Hughes Students Particpate in All City!: Fifth grade students Chauntira Kitchens, Angel Mensah, and Jade Jones earned the opportunity to participate in the All City Instrumental performances at Nottingham High School on February 6th. We are incredibly proud of their talent! more >>
Students Teaching Students!: With the help of band teacher, Ms. Kirsch, our students have been helping each other learn how to play their instruments during their weekly band lessons. Fifth grader Mikaila Johnson can be seen helping fourth grader Imani Trotman in the included image. It's always a wonderful experience to see our students working together and helping each other succeed! more >>
Hughes Fifth Graders Raise Money for the SPCA: All of the students in Ms. Johnson’s and Mr. Shehadi’s  fifth grade classes worked very hard collecting bottles and cans to earn money to donate to the SPCA. The students created posters that were displayed throughout the building, encouraging staff and students to bring in their empty cans and bottles to earn money for the SPCA.
