Peer Assistance and Review (PAR)

Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) is a program to provide support, guidance, and evaluation for first-year teachers.  The Syracuse plan began in December 2005, a union-management cooperation, modeled after school districts that have implemented PAR programs in Toledo and Columbus, OH, Poway and San Francisco, CA, and Rochester, NY.  The Syracuse Plan uses the contractually agreed upon assessment rubrics as standards for classroom performance and promotes teacher attitudes about the importance of competence and excellence.  These assessement rubrics provide a blueprint for professional development and identify aptitude for teacher.

For more information regarding this program, please visit the Peer Assistance and Review Website.
