Dear McKinley-Brighton Parents & Guardians,

Please take time to review your child’s report card with him/her. To be on track for college, your child needs to earn 3’s and 4’s in ELA, math, social studies and science. Pay special attention to the effort and study skills grades because they indicate if the student is working to potential. Then, dialogue with your child about the value in having an education and your expectations for “best effort and behavior.”

Project Bright Smile is coming to McKinley-Brighton School to meet the dental needs of our students! Please look for the memo and return the form to school.

NAAPID Day is scheduled for Monday, February 13th. Start the day with our African American Assembly at 9 am that morning in the cafetorium. Then visit your child’s classroom to see the quality of instruction and intellectual student engagement. We hope to see all of you at school throughout the day.

The Big Reading Challenge is on! Students must read 2,500 books by June to earn the chance to dunk the principal in the dunk tank! The graph in the main office records the total number of books read per class. Mid-winter recess is February 20th-24th. Please encourage your child to read over the break to maintain their reading skills and contribute to the challenge. Mrs. Levett is feeling kind of “dry” lately.

We appreciate your continued support in providing a strong educational program for each student at McKinley-Brighton School. Together, we will make our students’ dreams come true!

United for Students,
Colleen Levett, Principal
