Superintendent's Message 1/4/19

Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope your new year is off to a strong start. I look forward to hearing the continued stories of #SCSDSuccess as the year continues.

In case you missed it, over the holiday recess, PSLA at Fowler EMT student Najib Ahmed received some special attention on social media. Najib was recently able to help an injured stranger thanks to the Stop the Bleed training he had received through his EMT classes at school. In case you missed it, take a moment to check out the post – which went viral – highlighting Najib’s impressive actions. Our students are doing great things, thanks to the support and encouragement of our dedicated staff!

Also over the holiday recess, Van Duyn and Delaware scholars walked around downtown, distributing scarves and hats for those in need, along with inspiring messages. I am inspired by these students and staff who continued giving back to the community even while they were on break!

This week’s #SCSDLookBack video features students participating in an escape room activity at Westside Academy at Blodgett, Webster students receiving a new book donation, HW Smith students reconnecting with their classmates and more. Students are already back in learning mode – please keep sharing the good news with us on Twitter by tagging @SyracuseSchools and using #SCSDSuccess.

Sincerely,
Jaime
