Home School Procedure



All families that reside within the Syracuse City School District must register with the District. Families interested in homeschooling their child shall register as normal at the Central Registration Center.

According to the District’s registration requirements, families interested in home schooling must provide proof of residency, proof of age, and their “Letter Of Intent” (LOI) (a written statement confirming the intention to home school a student). During registration, the registrant should inform a District representative of their interest in homeschooling. The “Individual Home Instruction Plan” (IHIP) may also be presented at the time of registration.

Once the registration is complete, all information regarding the student will be forwarded to the Home School Office within the Student Support Services Department. The Home School Office will then work with the family to facilitate the remainder of the process.
