HS Students Set to Take the Stage in Spring Musicals

Students and staff from Corcoran, Fowler, Henninger and Nottingham have been busy at work preparing for their upcoming spring musicals.  There have been countless hours spent going over lines, rehearsing songs and designing sets and costumes in preparation for opening night.  Please join us for a wonderful night of laughter and fun as our students wow you with their amazing talents.

Corcoran HS-Bye, Bye Birdie

Corcoran Association of Student Theatre (CAST) presents Bye, Bye Birdie on March 7th and 8th at 7:00 PM.  Tickets for the shows are $5 and available in the main office at the school or by calling 435-4321.

Bye, Bye Birdie is one of the most captivating musical shows of our time. It is a satire done with the fondest affection, and tells the story of a rock and roll singer who is about to be inducted into the army.

Nottingham HS-Chicago

Nottingham High School’s Meadowbrook Harlequins present the musical Chicago this spring with three shows on March 14, 15 and 16.  The curtain rises at 7:30 PM for the the March 14th and 15th shows with the March 16th matinee beginning at 2:30 PM.  Tickets are $7 for students and senior citizens and $10 for adults.

Set in the legendary city during the roaring “jazz hot” 20s, Chicago tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderesses locked up in Cook County Jail. Nightclub star Velma’s serving time for killing her husband and sister after finding the two in bed together. Driven chorus girl Roxie’s been tossed in the joint for bumping off the lover she’s been cheating on her husband with. Not one to rest on her laurels, Velma enlists the help of prison matron Mama Morton and slickster lawyer Billy Flynn, who turn Velma’s incarceration into a murder-of-the-week media frenzy, thus preparing the world for a splashy showbiz comeback. But Roxie’s got some of her own tricks up her sleeve…

Henninger HS-Songs for a New World

Theatre students from Henninger will be performing the musical Songs for a New World
for audiences on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22 at 7:00 PM.  Pre-sale tickets are available for $5 and will be $8 at the door.

Songs of a New World is an abstract musical, a series of songs all connected by a theme: "the moment of decision.”  Composer Jason Robert Brown has said of his show, "It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back."

Fowler HS-Little Shop of Horrors

Little Shop of Horrors is the spring musical being put on by the Fowler students.  There will be three shows Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17 @ 6:30pm and Sunday, May 18 @ 2pm.  Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door.

Little Shop of Horrors is a comedy horror rock musical about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh.
