High School Choice Program

The Syracuse City School District High School Choice Program provides parents or guardians the opportunity to request a transfer to:
 *   Their child’s home school (the school to which a student is assigned based on his/her residence or home address);
 *   Join a sibling (brother or sister residing in the same household) who is enrolled in the school and will remain for at least one year; or
  *  A high school within the district that offers a program of interest to their child (a Program-Based Transfer). You will be required to complete an additional application, and may be required to attend an interview, if applicable.

Student Eligibility

The Syracuse City School District High School Choice Program will be open to any student who will be entering 9th grade in September 2015.  If your child meets one of the criteria listed above, you will be required to fill out the High School Choice Form.

If your child is interested in participating in a career technical or specialized program, you will be required to complete the High School Choice Form and any additional application requirements.  You will be required to apply even if the career technical or specialized program is in your home school.

Information for 8th Grade Students Who Attend Frazer, Grant and Westside Academy

All students who are currently enrolled in Frazer, Grant and Westside Academy will be required to participate in the high school choice process by completing a High School Choice Form.

There will be several choices available to students who are currently enrolled in Frazer, Grant and Westside Academy.
1)      If a student is interested in attending one of our specialized schools or schools with career
technical or specialized programs, a High School Choice Form must be completed.

2)      If you are not interested in the District’s specialized high schools or schools with career
technical or specialized programs and would rather enroll in one of the three comprehensive high schools: Corcoran (non-IB), Henninger High School, or Nottingham, you must complete a High School Choice form indicating your choice. The High School Choice Form will be made available online in the Spring.
