District Enters Into Agreement with NYS Attorney General

The Syracuse City School District and New York State Attorney General have entered into an agreement regarding the AG's recent investigation into the district's disciplinary practices.  The Attorney General’s findings were largely consistent with two reports commissioned by the District in the spring and fall of 2013. Since then, the District has taken purposeful steps to suspend fewer children for insubordination and non-violent behavior and has worked to provide our teachers with additional tools and support to manage discipline in the classroom.  A new Code of Conduct has also been developed with substantial input from teachers, administrators, parents and community members.  The new Code will be in effect for 2014-15.
