Principal Rebecca Groat- CORE

    Dear CORE Families,
Thank you for choosing the CORE K-8 Program at Elmwood.  We are a unique program for students in grades K-8 who need a fresh start.  We strive to create a more personalized learning environment with individualized goal setting, smaller class sizes, utilizing project-based learning strategies.  We also teach various social-emotional skills with an emphasis on "restorative practices" to help our students be successful in school. Students come throughout the school year and stay for various timeframes before returning to their home school.  We partner with Hillside, FSSS & Promise Zone to provide additional supports for our students and families.

Students who enter the program will go through an intake process which includes the student, parent/guardian, the staff and our community partner(s).  Students who complete the program will also go through an exit process to celebrate their growth. We look forward to working together with families to provide an optimum learning environment for our students to thrive.

Please note our new school hours are 8:00 am - 2:00 pm.  When starting our program, busing can take 5 days to set up.  A safe school environment for all students is a priority. All students and their belongings will be searched daily. We encourage students to leave cell phones and electronics at home. If a student needs to bring their cell phone to school we will secure all cell phones in a Ziplock bag and place them in a locked cabinet throughout the day. Cell phones will be returned to every student at dismissal each day. If students need to use a phone at school they will have access to the phone in the main office.

Every student who enters our program will have an intake meeting with a parent/guardian. We schedule it during the school day.  If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact us. Our phone number is (315) 435-6226.

Sincerely,

Ms. Groat, Principal                                                    Ms. Long, Dean of Students
