What is PBIS?

PBIS (Positive Behavioral, Interventions and Supports) has come to Meachem! What is PBIS? It is a district wide initiative created to reinforce positive behaviors with students. You should have received a PBIS matrix at home listing Meachem’s Behavioral Expectations (Be Respectful, Responsible and Safe), if not you can download a copy here. We all have a heart or “bucket” that can be filled or emptied by the words or actions of others. We want to encourage bucket filling at Meachem. Therefore, when students are exhibiting the positive behaviors listed on the matrix they may receive a “Bucket Filler” card as a way to reinforce those positive behaviors. Teachers will set goals and track “bucket fillers” and students will be positively reinforced with tangible and/or non tangible rewards throughout the school year. We look forward to seeing all students show ways they can be respectful, responsible and safe!
