Webster Elementary Students are Finalists in Zoo Penguin Naming Contest

Congratulations to the Webster Elementary students in Mrs. Cleveland's first grade class-- they are finalists in the Rosamond Gifford Zoo contest to name two new Humboldt penguin chicks!
Of the 961 entries the zoo received, the name Webster students chose, Malia, is one of the top five! The students selected the name Malia because, "Chick A has two parents with names that start with the letter m, so we wanted to find a name that also started with m. We searched for Spanish baby names and had a tournament-style voting system."

Please take a moment to vote and help Mrs. Cleveland's class win the penguin-naming contest!
Voting will be open until Friday, April 10th at 4:00 PM. The top two names that receive the most votes will be selected as winners, and winners will receive a Humboldt penguin Adopt an Animal package from Friends of the Zoo.
