Hands on learning and burning, Falcon Fire and Rescue students constructed houses from shoeboxes and packing boxes.  Their homes incorporated a number of fire hazards such as Christmas trees near curtains and flammable materials under beds.On the final day with this project, despite pouring rain, students spent class outside behind the school setting the box-homes on fire in order to observe the different types of heat transfer, how the fire spreads throughout the homes, and the different components of the fire tetrahedron.

Fire Control was notified and several safety protocols were in place. Fire Instructor Mr. Jarvis monitored with three different types of fire extinguishers at hand, all students wore protective equipment only Mr. Jarvis set the fires.
