Huntington Students Celebrate Read Across America

On Wednesday, March 2, 4th grade students at Huntington PreK-8 School helped to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Birthday by reading to very eager and attentive Kindergarten students.  During library classes, the 4th grade students selected Dr. Seuss books, practiced reading aloud, and created questions they would ask the Kindergarten students about what they heard.  Despite expressing some nerves about reading to other kids, the students proved to be excellent role-models to their younger classmates, who were inquisitive, observant, and a wonderful audience.

Each year, on March 2nd, students all over the country participate in the National Education Association’s (NEA) Read Across America Events.  The program provides ways to motivate children to read, an important factor in student achievement and creating lifelong successful readers.
