On October 28th Van Duyn Elementary received a "Vantastic" treat! Syracuse Chief of Police, Frank Fowler, and five officers that have community-school duties visited Van Duyn to give a presentation on what it takes to be a CHAMP both in school and outside it. After going over the ways students could be courageous, hardworking, achieving, motivated, persistent, scholarly and safe the police officers walked around and gave every student in Van Duyn a high-five! Students, who had earned the October white CHAMPS incentive got to stay after the presentation and decorate cookies, drink cider and pick out a pumpkin of their very own. Van Duyn scholars had a blast!
