Superintendent's Message to Staff - February 24

I hope you have all enjoyed a well-deserved break this week!

I wanted to take a moment to pass along several important pieces of news. First, Syracuse Latin students raised more than $5,000 for the American Heart Association through its recent Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for the Heart fundraiser. Way to go, Syracuse Latin! I am so proud of the ways #SCSDGivesBack!

If you are looking for a way to cheer on our wonderful students, don’t miss the chance to support #SCSDAthletics this weekend.  On Saturday, the Syracuse Cougars boys ice hockey team will take on West Genesee at the War Memorial (11 am). The boys have a 19-1 overall record this year and this is sure to be a great game. Also on Saturday, the Henninger Black Knights boys basketball team will be competing in the Class AA sectional semifinals, taking on West Genesee at OCC’s SRC Arena (6:30 pm). The team pulled off an impressive overtime win in their last game against Rome Free Academy and a loud cheering crowd could help push them to success again!

Finally, while you enjoy your last day of midwinter recess, don’t miss our weekly #SCSDLookBack video. This week’s video features the Frazer middle school honor roll ceremony, science experiments at Lincoln, Nottingham students attending SU Youth Law Day, College & Career Day at Dr. Weeks, Building Men students making sandwiches for the homeless, an ITC pep rally and more. Share your good news photos with us on Twitter (@SyracuseSchools) to be featured next week!
