Vision

The vision of the College and Career Center at Henninger High School is to empower students with skills and resources so they can discover a path to a fulfilling career and make their own unique marks on the world. 

Mission

Recognizing that career development is a life-long process, the mission of the College and Career at Henninger High School is to get students thinking about their future after high school. Whether the student is heading to college, trade school, military, or joining the workforce, the time to begin career awareness, exploration, and preparedness is now.

Zonta Club of Syracuse (3 applications)
  • Application Deadline: April 15, 2023
  • Edna B, Davis Music Scholarship (up to $2,000)
    • Qualifications:  Young women pursuing music education, professional performance or other related degree.  Must include a recommendation from music teacher or choral director.
  • Ursula Pettengill Scholarship (up to $1,500)
    • Qualifications: Young women who are pursuing either dietectics, nutrition, health science or related field. 
  • Amelia Earhart Scholarship (up to $1,000)
    • Qualifications:  high school senior girl with a grade point average of 3.2 or higher.  The applicant will have been accepted into a two or four year academic program in one of the proposed majors - sciences, engineering, aeronautics or mathematics.  Consideration will be given for financial need.
  • Applications are available in the college and career center.

PB & J Foundation
  • Application Deadline: May 31, 2023
  • Qualifications: Current high school senior, plan on attending a 2 or 4 year college and have experienced a personal challenge that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but still have the drive to succeed.

CNY STEM Scholarships!
  • Application Deadline - April 1, 2023
  • Qualifications - These scholarships are designed to support the best and brightest students in the Central New York Region in their quest to pursue STEM fields in college. The scholarships are based on applicants' academic achievements and extracurricular activities, as well as the essay and an interview. Each scholarship provides financial assistance in varying amounts and an internship. Applicants can only be awarded one scholarship that includes an internship.

Tipperary Hill Community Service Scholarship
  • Application deadline: March 31, 2023
  • Qualifications: Applicant must reside in the Tipperary Hill Association Boundary and plans on continueing their education at a 2 or 4 year college or trade school.

Rapid Response Graduation Scholarship

  • Application deadline: March 31, 2023
  • Qualifications: 
    • Must be a high school senior in good standing 
    • Will be enrolled in an accredited college or university in Fall 2023
    • Registered in a STEM curriculum, pursuing a degree in the field of technology
    • Currently a Central New York resident (Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, or Tompkins counties)
    • GPA at or above 3.0
District Attorney's Advisory Council Scholarship
  • Application deadline - April 4, 2023
  • Qualifications - Must be a senior in high school, planning on attending a 2 or 4 year college or trade school and pursuing a career in a criminal justice field
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
Central New York Pop Warner Scholarship
  • Application Deadline: April 1
  • Qualfications:
    • Student has completed 4 full seasons as a Pop Warner Player or Cheerleader
    • Student is continuing their educations at an accedited Institution of higher learning
    • Student has been involved in service to the community or school
    • Student must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
Women Transcending Boundries Scholarship
  • Application Deadline: May 2nd
  • Qualfications:
    • An applicant for this award shall be a female graduating Syracuse City School District senior
    • She shall have demonstrated, through service, her understanding of and commitment to interfaith and intercultural diversity
    • She plans to continue her post–high-school education in a certificate program, a trade school, or a 2-year or 4-year college or university
    • Eligibility for this award is not limited by academic (GPA) or financial considerations

Dowdell Scholarship Award 
 
  • Application Deadline:  April 30th
  • Qualifications: 

1. Applicant must be a male student of color in their senior year attending high school in Onondaga County.

2. Applicant must be accepted as a full-time student to an accredited university or college and provide a copy of acceptance letter.

3. Applicant must have attained a minimum academic average of 80 / “B”

4. Applicant must submit three (3) letters of recommendation providing character reference, academic excellence, and political or community participation.

5. Applicant must provide an essay consisting of a minimum of 500 words and addressing one of the following subjects:

· Why I should receive the Dennis Dowdell Scholarship Award.

· How I expect higher education to change my life.

· What I expect to contribute to society after I attain a college education.

· Future goals and aspirations.

6. Applicant must attend an interview with the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, Chi Pi Chapter (Dressed appropriately).
