National External Diploma Program

The National External Diploma Program
The National External Diploma Program (NEDP) is a way for adults to earn a high school diploma without attending classes or taking a final exam. The program is designed for adults age 21 and older who left school but have high school-level academic skills from life and work experience.
How the NEDP Program Works

Your role: The client
- Work at your own pace. There are no classes, so you can complete assignments from home on a flexible schedule that fits your life.
- Demonstrate your knowledge. You will complete a series of online tasks that assess your skills in various subjects, like math and financial literacy.
- Meet with an Advisor. You will have regular online or in-person check-ins with an advisor to review your work and get feedback.

The advisor's role
- Review and evaluate your work. The Advisor/Assessor is responsible for checking your assignments to make sure you have mastered the material.
- Provide feedback. If you don't master an assignment on the first try, your advisor will help you understand what you need to improve.
- Not a teacher. The advisor's role is to assess your work, not to instruct you on the academic content.

Program Details
- What you get: Upon successful completion of all assignments, you receive a nationally and New York State-recognized high school diploma.
- Cost: The program has no cost for clients who meet the program's requirements.
- Computer-based: This is an online program, so you must have a computer and basic computer skills to participate.
