Community Crisis Resources

The following resources are available within our community for anyone in crisis.

CONTACT Telephone Counseling Service -Toll Free Hotline

  • 3029 E. Genesee St. Syracuse, NY 13224 315-251-0600
  • The CONTACT hotline provides free, anonymous, confidential 24-hour telephone counseling, crisis intervention, and information and referral to persons in distress or crisis. Certified volunteers assist callers with a wide range of problems and issues.

St Joseph’s Hospital CPEP (Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program)

  • 2001 Prospect Ave. Syracuse, NY 13203 315-448-6555
  • Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to anyone with a psychiatric emergency or emotional crisis, the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program is composed of four components: crisis outreach, psychiatric emergency service, extended observation unit, and emergency crisis beds. CPEP staff members assess, triage, and treat patients in crisis.

Community General Hospital Emergency Room

  • Onondaga Hill Community General Hospital is a small, private hospital providing medical care and emergency psychiatric services.

Hutchings Psychiatric Center

  • 620 Madison Ave. Syracuse, NY 13210 315-473-4980
  • The Richard H. Hutchings Psychiatric Center is a comprehensive, community-based mental health facility providing an integrated network of inpatient and outpatient services for children and adults residing in the Central New York region.

SUNY Upstate Medical University Emergency Room

  • A SUNY teaching hospital, it provides a wide range of psychiatric services, including emergency assessment, hospitalization, and outpatient care.

Vera House

  • P.O. Box 365 Syracuse, NY 13209 315-468-3260
  • The agency provides a 24-hour crisis, support, and information line, and emergency shelter to ensure that women and children are safe from violence. Actively engaged in domestic violence education and training in the community, Vera House offers counseling and advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and children who witness abuse.
